South Westfalia University of Applied Sciences

Industry needs science and science needs industry.
Soest has recognised this connection. The South Westphalian University of Applied Sciences with  Soest campus (HTWS) therefore offers young people courses in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, agricultural economics, engineering and project management, the master course electronic systems & engineering management as well as business administration with informatics.  In the "Soest model" theory and practice  are interlinked in a special way. After the lectures the students apply their know-how in Soest enterprises, for example Alcoa, Delta Energy Systems or Kuchenmeister, and gain valuable practical experience there. It is obvious that the companies also benefit from this technology transfer.

As Europe and the world are increasingly growing together and therefore creating completely new challenges for employees, it is important for us in Soest  to react to globalisation with appropriate qualification possibilities. Ideal conditions are offered, for example, by the course leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration with Informatics. This course is held in English in co-operation with the Swiss-German University of Asia (SGU) and offers the chance of obtaining a double degree, i.e. a bachelor degree at the Soest Campus and sitting an examination at the SGU in Switzerland.

When science and industry work so closely together, this produces ideas which may change the world and staff are trained who meet the modern demands of industry in all fields. Take this opportunity and obtain information at (

Technology transfer

To promote technology transfer, the Institute for Technology and Knowledge Transfer (TWS) is also available to companies. The aim of the TWS is to boost co-operation between the university and research facilities and industry. The knowledge and technological potential available at the campus  are to be made accessible to industry. The TWS helps by making the knowledge potential of over 50 professors and science staff in the fields available:

Electrical power engineering
Mechanical engineering / Automation technology
Agricultural economics.
